I am working toward a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, where I was recently hired to be a peer tutor. I have experience volunteering as a peer tutor in high school and working with grade school students at after school programs. Some of the subjects I tutor are Reading, Writing (including essays and research papers), Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and SAT and ACT test prep. I especially enjoy helping students prep for critical reading sections of standardized tests because of the reasoning and discussion involved between the student and I. I also enjoy tutoring math because I try to impart an intuitive grasp of concepts and problem-solving techniques, which I've found effective in both improving students' performances and capturing students' interests. I strongly believe that the ability to learn is not fixed but about being equipped with the right tools and approach--which may be different for each individual student. I hope to not only help equip students with these tools, but also to show students that they're capable of learning anything they put their minds to. In my spare time, I like to play guitar, attend concerts, read, and try new restaurants around Pittsburgh.
