Hello students and parents,
My name is Zak, I am a UW 2017 graduate with a bachelors of science in Bioengineering (minor in mathematics) and I am starting my masters of science in Bioengineering at UW in Fall of 2018. I am originally from New Jersey and started getting involved with tutoring in my High School's national honors society. After that, in my sophomore year of college I was a resident adviser. In this position, I was responsible for the social and academic well-being of 64 students. In my senior year for my departmental honors project my team members and I created a Bioengineering study center. The center was open four hours a week and we organized volunteer tutors to help our fellow student with the Bioengineering curriculum and any other academic or career questions they had. I am motivated to help students discover what drives them to learn and pinpoint how each one of them can sustain a thirst for knowledge. As an engineer, I like to relate curriculum to the real world. Science for science's sake is motivating but many students including myself like to see what impact science can have on the world and how basic concepts can be applied to solve real complex problems.
When I am not in the lab or taking classes I enjoy playing video games (hearthstone and Pokemon), exercising, listening to books on tape, surfing and occasionally writing poetry.
I look forward to working with you all!
