Starting from middle school, I've took on the roll as the tutor in my group of friends. I am about to enter my second year at Stony Brook University, majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Mathematics. I have a long-standing interest in assisting the next generation of students with improving education.

My enthusiasm for pursuing a position in this area stems from my interest in working with enthusiastic young people, and my desire to make full use of my skills in motivating them to do better in their studies while having fun in doing so. After having multiple experiences working with young scholars, I am attracted by the opportunity to help improve and tutor the young learners and to develop my communication skills in such an environment.

Motivating people to work with me towards a common, worthwhile goal is something that I find hugely enjoyable and rewarding. As being a tutor and grader for Ling Hang Inc. (GPS Academy) last year, I was extremely pleased with the progress that students have made while I assisted them with their daily summer studies for exams such as the SAT and SHSAT. Being sort of a caretaker for the New York Chinese School, taking care of children with age ranges from third grade to seventh grade, was a huge task that I managed to accomplish.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a tutor is knowing that these young scholars will start out the right way into a sophisticated and well educated world. Seeing progress and scores increasing as students enter prep schools, and guiding them as opposed to giving them answers have increased their progress tremendously. I have enjoyed both the challenge of raising the profile of institutions and my work with young people themselves.
My teaching method is very simple. The student is always the star of all the sessions. I believe in a more interactive style of one on one tutoring as opposed to boring lectures where I'm the only one speaking. Conversing during tutoring sessions proved to be very effective for tutors to understand what the student really needs and strives in order to understand anything.
Learning is an art. Teaching is a passion. My job is to make sure every student is painting their own canvas.
