I began tutoring as a summer volunteer for grades K and 1 in 2010, assisting in reading and math classes for students attending summer school. I found this summer to be very fulfilling and went on to volunteer as a science and math tutor at my high school until I graduated. I started working as a paid tutor in 2011, at first occasionally then part time since 2014.
I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to pass on the knowledge I am fortunate enough to receive. I especially love when my tutees have eureka moments and develop a passion for the subject. I am still in contact with most of my tutees and often help when I can.
I specialize in chemistry (High School to College, including Organic Chemistry) and mathematics (Elementary School to Calculus 2). I also tutor French; I am a native speaker but have also studied the language for 8 years. Furthermore, I am qualified to tutor the first year of Spanish, the first semester of college Psychology, and Environmental Economics. I can also offer general homework help to students in areas of English and social sciences (especially European History).
As a Tutor, I try to empower my tutees by showing them that they can be very successful in the subject. I find that a lot of tutees know the information but lack confidence in their knowledge. I encourage students to develop organizational and time management skills that they can use well into their academic careers. My sessions usually incorporate videos, quizzing, examples similar to homework problems, and unit reviews depending on the needs of my tutee. I sometimes make use of games and models as well.
I look forward to helping you!
