I am currently striving towards a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Dayton with the ambition to attend medical school. I am a Pre-Medicine major, with minors in psychology, biology, and medical humanities. I began tutoring my senior year of high school through the National Honors Society during my study halls. I continued my freshman year of college by tutoring high school students at Dayton Early College Academy. Later I tutored middle school and elementary school students at Holy Angels grade school. I currently tutor at Montgomery County jail once a week with an inmate who is seeking GED.
I have tutored in nearly all subjects but my favorite are in the science fields. I really enjoy biology and related fields, chemistry, and math. I would describe my tutoring style as hands on, trying to figure out the best methods to teach for each individual I tutor. I truly believe there is not a universal tutoring method for students. Everyone is different, learns differently, and at different paces. I am a big fan of breaking down problems and information in relatable ways depending on the student. I find creating mnemonics is simple and a fun way to remember difficult information. By putting information into a meaningful context for a student I believe it makes a more vivid image of the big picture and the easiest to remember. I am also a very visual learner myself; for difficult concepts I tend to use videos with the content.
Outside of academics I am a huge sports fan. I played basketball and football in high school, and actively involved in intramurals in college. I am the biggest Cleveland Cavaliers fan. I have passion for community service, and was the volunteer coordinator for the honors biology fraternity. I love to joke and have fun, and find myself to be very easy going and friendly to all types of people.
Education & Certification
Undergraduate Degree: University of Dayton - Bachelor of Science, Premedicine
ACT Composite: 26
Huge fan of sports and physical activity. I consider myself the biggest Cleveland Cavalier fan; I rarely miss games on TV. I was very physically active in high school through sports (football and basketball) and continued to be active in college through intramurals. When I am not studying you are most likely to find me playing Xbox or watching Netflix. My favorite games to play are Madden, Call of Duty, and NBA 2k. I have the tendency to binge watch TV shows, such as The Office, Prison Break, and Friday Night Lights. I have an innate desire to continue to learn outside of the academic setting; I love to watch documentaries. During the summer I attend many concerts every year, including country, rap, and recently EDM concerts. My favorite artists are Thomas Rhett, and Wiz Khalifa. While both of these artists are polar opposites of each other in terms of musical style, I find my preference in music to by symbolic of my personality. I tend to mix well with different types of people, and do not like to limit myself to a specific group.
