I am currently enrolled in a Master of Arts in Teaching program at Concordia University. I am studying elementary education and hope to teach 2nd or 3rd grade in the near future. I earned my baccalaureate degree from Portland State University in 2011. I completed my degree in three years while graduating with cum laude honors and maintaining a part time job. While I am in school, I also work as a skills trainer for adults with developmental disabilities and as a real estate broker. I like to stay busy! The positions are in completely different fields and allow me to challenge myself while continuing to serve and educate. As a skills trainer, I've had the opportunity to help a minority population and teach different individuals the skills they need to be successful in the community. As a real estate broker, I've worked with different families and helped them in the process of purchasing a home. Again, I found joy in teaching and helping them understand important aspects of the journey. Though different, both of these positions require patience and an ability to explain sometimes difficult concepts.
I believe education sets the groundwork for any young person's future and some students need a little extra support. I would be happy to help your student learn what they need to be successful!
