As a student at an accredited university, I am currently double majoring in English and Secondary Education (grades 6-12). Previously, I studied Classical Latin as well, though now my central focus is English.
I am especially interested in English theory, American and British literature past the seventeenth century, and poetry from any period. My recent projects include explicating "The Battle of Maldon", an Old English war poem, and exploring Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest" using different literary theories. If I were to jump into another project, it would be researching William Carlos Williams, Wallace Stevens, and Emily Dickinson, who I have a great affinity toward.
In my educational career, I have taken classes on educational philosophy, literacy, and curriculum. During my undergraduate, I will also learn about ELL students, SPED students, and media in the classroom.
In terms of a career, I see myself teaching middle or high school English for a handful of years. Graduate studies interest me and would serve to advance my understanding of either English or Education, though I have not solidified which path I will take. With a Masters degree, I would consider being a curriculum advisor or a professor at a local university.
