I have a Bachelors Degree in Special Education from the University of Central Florida, a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from NOVA Southeastern University, and a Specialists Degree in Teacher Leadership from the University of North Georgia. In addition to my degree areas, I have teaching endorsements in ESOL, reading, online teaching, and I am about to finish coursework for my gifted teaching endorsement. I have been a teacher for 24 years and have taught every grade from Pre-K to age 22, and have taught all elementary and middle school subjects. I have also been a tutor in a variety of after school programs. In addition to this, I was a tutor at a learning center for six years. I am passionate about helping struggling students. I have had great success with teaching students who have a variety of disabilities and learning difficulties.
My favorite subject to teach is reading. I am certified to teach many research-based reading programs. I also tutor in all academic areas at the elementary level. I love reading myself and really love showing students how they can be successful readers. My teaching philosophy is that all students can learn but not in the same way or at the same pace. I strive to reach each of my students by teaching them through their preferred learning modality.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, hiking, and spending time with my two dogs. I also enjoy hosting foreign exchange students. I have hosted students from Thailand and Brazil. I have been to Thailand two times to visit my former students.
