I am passionate about helping students because I strongly believe every student has the right and potential to learn, excel, and master. I primarily tutor math - elementary math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, middle school math, intro-level high school math, and math on standardized tests. I absolutely love tutoring math because it is a subject full of beauty, patterns, and creative potential. Other subjects I have tutored in the past include reading and writing, as well as college essay writing.
I graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2016 and most recently earned my secondary math teaching certification for NJ. Outside of school, I enjoy discovering new ways to use my camera, experimenting in the kitchen, and playing board games that involve lots of strategy.
I have extensive experience tutoring and teaching students from all schooling levels: elementary, middle, high, college, and adults. Some of my longest tutoring client relationships have resulted in not only the student's higher achievement in math, but also the student's higher confidence in pursuing that subject independently. In addition, I was once a teaching assistant to support ELL students from Asian backgrounds and most recently was a student teacher for 7th grade math. I have enjoyed all of my experiences working with and learning from students from all backgrounds, interests, and abilities!
My tutoring style is unique in that I focus on building student confidence in the subject by leveraging what they already know to guide our thinking and exploration as a team. I find one of the most effective ways to learn math is by viewing it with an investigative lens, an "I can" approach. As I believe in every student's potential, my style resembles that of a facilitator who asks the right questions and offers just the right amount of ideas for students to guide their own thinking and explore math comfortably, of course adjusting to the student's needs where appropriate.
