I graduated college with degrees in Spanish and Global Studies, after enjoying a semester abroad in Argentina and an incredible ESL tutoring experience. It was amazing how much the Argentine immersion experience helped me learn my personal barriers to advancement in the Spanish language, which allowed me to move forward and rapidly improve my Spanish. Since then I have been deeply interested in the nuances of language learning, the barriers to learning, and the ways in which students can overcome their fears of communicating in a second language. I am also fascinated with the way in which Spanish is used differently throughout Latin America and love continuing to improve my fluency every day.
In 2015 I left for Nicaragua with few plans, and returned with a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification and an amazing experience teaching English to Nicaraguans. I was able to do some more volunteer English teaching in Honduras and Costa Rica at the beginning of 2017, and now I'm excited to bring my knowledge to students in the Twin Cities! I enjoy working with motivated students who see learning a second language as a way to improve their life. I hope to share my passion for knowing a second language so my students will see language learning as something interesting, fun, and extremely useful.
