My life course began at the age of eleven when I saw a video of childbirth. I was mesmerized by this miracle of life and by the thought of being involved in something as wonderful throughout my life. I am fascinated by the complexity of the human body and the functions it carries out. The aspects which fascinate me most about medicine are being able to help and care for people whilst understanding the sophisticated processes which happen within the human body. Furthermore medicine would suit me as a person because of the ever developing new scientific discoveries, medicine has reached an endless scope with unlimited possibilities which would fulfill my prospects in life. As a doctor, I want to master the skills of patient diagnosis, work to improve the process of medical practice and successfully educate my
patients so they are empowered to choose to live healthy lifestyles.
Growing up, I was interested in martial arts, and still practice. There is an old saying pertaining to the
martial art philosophy which states, "One must first learn civility before he can learn the art, and one must
first know his ethics before he knows his skills." This statement is in direct relation to goals. We operate in a flood of information and our best evidence evolves daily.
Martial art philosophy demands the achieving of harmonious values by individuals who live by peace,
wisdom, morals, love and self discipline through intellectual means. The primary goal of learning martial
arts is to become a better person who lives with a greater understanding of society and its needs, and also
a greater expectation of a sincere life. It requires having a healthy life both mentally and physically. It is
an alteration, both physically and mentally, of ones lifestyle that will last a lifetime. It was sometime
before I truly understood this how crucial it was to understand this concept, but once I did, it will be something I never forget. As such, learning to exercise good clinical judgment requires extensive study and practice. Learning in medicine is not easy. By detailed study and extensive practice, I want to become
an experienced doctor who always obtains a clear history, performs thoroughly and ethically and
considers all aspects when diagnosing or ordering test and treatments for patients. This is my primary
professional goal. The ultimate opportunity to eventually set up
my own clinic really inspires me to work for this.
In order to be a successful doctor, one must be caring, dedicated and inquisitive in this field as well as a
whole rounded person. I believe these are some of the qualities I possess that will and I am certain that by studying medicine I can accomplish my dreams and make a contribution to the society I live in. I believe obstetrics is an excellent specialty. I am excited to enter medical school and a medical residency beyond that. As I seek to become skillful in my field, an advocate for my profession and an educator that cares, I will strive to make it possible for me to unite both my personal and professional goals into a single fulfilling career that can be summated in one single quote by one of my favorite artists, Vagabond, Preoccupied with a single leaf you won't see the tree.
