I taught special education for over thirty years, from young students to adults. After I retired, I've been helping elementary school students with their reading and other homework on a volunteer basis. I have enjoyed that immensely, am good at it, and wish to continue doing tutoring professionally.
I have a B.A. in Journalism (Cal State Northridge), an M.S. in Counseling (Cal State Los Angeles) and up-to-date California teaching credentials (Social Science and Special Education). I am comfortable tutoring any subjects for elementary school age, and for older students among my best subjects are writing, social sciences, and grammar.
I did well as a special education teacher because I am patient, flexible, goal-oriented and easy to get along with. I believe those qualities are helpful with tutoring students of all ages. I am looking forward to working with new students and helping them attain their educational goals.
