Hello, my name is Cecilia. I have been a high school math tutor for two years and attend East Los Angeles Community College. I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Education. Math is a passion of mine and so is helping people learn to gain self-confidence to be able to pursue their goals. Being a single mother of three has taught me valuable life lessons and has helped strengthen me as a person by truly pushing me and helping me realize the importance that I have as a human being. I have learned that we are all different but that every single one of us have no limits to our capabilities. After having my children I never thought I would go back to school, much less work towards a college degree. I was sure I would always work at a warehouse and in turn, my goal was to be hired full time in one. Thankfully, life took me in another direction and I was able to go back to school. I've learned more than anything that the effort you put into something is what matters most. I feel very grateful and proud to say that I am on my way and looking forward to earning my Master's degree.
After receiving my degree I hope to become a high school math teacher. I have always wanted to be a teacher and Math is the subject that has always come most natural to me. I enjoy working with people and being able to help someone learn new tools and information they can use, enriching their understanding of the content.
Tutoring allows me to do what I love while at the same time support my family. I strongly believe that we are all capable of overcoming our fears and reaching our goals. Patience and hard work have taken me far and teaching the value of hard work, dedication, and believing in yourself are keys to mastering life’s greatest challenges, which is what I aim to pass on.
