I'm a high school math teacher, certified to teach k-12 math and science, with a passion for teaching and mathematics. For the past 6 years I've had an awesome time honing my skills as an educator, but I have been tutoring since I was in high school. Working with students of all ages gives me an opportunity to not only help them grow academically, but it's also an opportunity that challenges me to adapt my instruction.
Outside of the classroom, I coach high school womens' soccer and cross country, and I run a Mu Alpha Theta chapter at my school. I like to play on adult rec teams for kickball and soccer, and from time to time I enjoy going to play trivia. Aside from that, I'm a book worm through and through, reading anything from historical fiction to science fiction and fantasy. My current reads rotate between the Game of Thrones series and The Magicians Trilogy.
I've stepped foot on three different continents, can communicate in three other languages (Spanish, French, and Russian), and have three annoying but lovable pets - Tess (dog), Felix (cat) and Chloe (cat). What can I say, 3 is my favorite number.
With numbers on the brain, I want to express that teaching math is my very favorite part of the day. In many ways the subject can be considered another language because it is one of very few true subjects that can be understood by all human beings, at any level, in any place. From the basics of numbers and operations to the complexities of differential equations, math never changes, and ideas linked to the symbols and numbers hold us together as a rational and logical species.
I look forward to getting to know all my future students, and I wish the greatest of success to you all!
