I am here to help students fully understand mathematical concepts, and even learn to enjoy math. I plan to do this through the application of real life scenarios and complete explanations. I will do this using my experience as a student as well as my experience as a tutor.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is to not only teach the subject, but to help the student fully understand the concepts being used.

I would start by doing proper introductions and getting to know the student on a more personal level.

To better help a student become an independent learner, it is important to show them where to find the knowledge they are looking for.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
To help a student stay motivated, I find it is important to stay positive, and to relate to things that matter to them.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
When a student has trouble learning something, I would attempt to approach the problem from a different perspective.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
If a student is struggling with reading comprehension, I feel it is important to show the student how to gather the proper information from the text.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
When working with new student, I have found that is very important to get an understanding of what the student has already learned and mastered, and begin to build off of that.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
To build a student's confidence, I would suggest starting out with the most basic concepts and continuing to build up to the harder questions gradually.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
To evaluate a student's needs, I will ask them some conceptual questions to understand what they know and what they need to learn.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
The way I adapt my tutoring for different students is to see the way they best learn. When teaching in the way they best learn, you best help the student.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
During a tutoring session, I typically use class materials and any other materials that the student typically uses.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
To help a student get excited in a subject that they are studying, it is important to relate it to interesting and engaging things. Perhaps even show them a real-life application that would spark interest.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
To make sure that a student understands the material, it is important to change the problems; not only the order they are done, but the order the steps are done. I would also ask the student to attempt to show me what they learned on their own.
