Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I seek to teach in a lecture-esque way that a university professor teaches; that is, I teach to the book's concepts and to its lessons and learning. The students need to learn the concepts the book presents, and to do this I lecture these concepts the book presents.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I feel that at best, all I can do in a first session with a student is teach to the concepts the book is trying to get the student to understand. It is only after multiple sessions that the student's personality will come across to me, and I can teach to the student's personality.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I feel that I cannot do this to a great extent. All I can do is help the student understand the concepts I am trying to teach him/her, and it is through my understanding of her/his concepts that I can best teach to how the student will best learn.
