What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that everyone can learn, given the right teaching approach.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Go over the material, assess their understanding, and come up with a few learning goals.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Give them the tools and the confidence to do it themselves.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Remind them of why they want to learn and succeed. If we find their ultimate goal, we find their motivation and discipline in the moment.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Use a different approach. Not everyone learns the same way.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Reading can be hard and frustrating when it doesn't "click". It is important to return to basics and build confidence using what a student does know and then moving into more challenging territories.
