I have a degree in neurobiology from Harvard and have been tutoring students in Los Angeles for the past three years. I can cover a broad range of subjects ranging from the sciences to the humanities, as I received a minor in English from Harvard in addition to my neurobiology degree. I also have experience tutoring the math and science portions of the ACT and the math portion of the SAT.
As for my approach to tutoring, I believe that each student is different, and it's the responsibility of the tutor to determine what set of tools the student needs in order to master the content. I think the single greatest trait that a tutor can possess, beyond knowledge of the subject matter, is the ability to listen to the student and observe the student as he or she is doing the material. What works for one student may not work for another, and it's on me as a tutor to make sure that I am remaining open to whatever the student is displaying so that I can correctly apprehend how best to help the student.
