Hi there! My name is DJ. I have been tutoring on my own and through other companies for the past three years. Before that, I studied at the University of Southern California, receiving my BS in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Statistics in 2013. I love tutoring because I can adjust and focus my teaching methods to the specific student I am tutoring--I don't have to compromise for a group of students. I have successfully helped students in pretty much all levels of high school and college math, as well as SAT and ACT prep. My students really respond well when I write custom practice problems for them, based of their interests and what specific topics they are having trouble with. I tend to focus more on doing a lot of problems as opposed to more lecture-based lessons, but obviously you can't just jump into problems if the student doesn't understand the topics at all. I can't wait to help you or your students reach your/their goals, whether it is getting straight A's and those Ivy League acceptance letters, or just passing that last math class to graduate.

What is your teaching philosophy?
The first session with a student involves a lot of questions on my part. What are you having trouble with? How is your class organized and does that work for you? What are your goals--for this class and for academics in general? Then I would probably have the student look at a few practice problems to see his/her strategies and roadblocks. This gives me a much better idea of how to tailor my lessons to a given student.
