Guten Morgen! My name is Alan. I grew up in Northern Germany in a small town called Verden, approx. 40km outside of Bremen, the city known for Becks beer and ‘Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten’. In Verden I attended elementary school and high school. At age 19 I moved to Toronto, Canada to complete my BFA in film at York University. In 2003 I moved to Los Angeles where I’ve since been working as a composer, guitar teacher and German tutor. From my teenage years on I’ve been very active in the music scene. I have toured all over the world under my artist name 'Spookey Ruben'. One of my tunes is the theme song of a famous German TV talkshow called ‘Zimmer Frei’. I travel to Germany at least once a year, keen to stay in touch with current trends in German language and pop culture. As a teacher I am committed to reaching each student's goals by creating a flexible custom-tailored study program. So whether you want to elevate the German you already know or just learn enough for your upcoming trip to Berlin. We’ll make it happen! Tschuess, bis zum naechsten Mal!
