I am the first in my immediate family to graduate with a 4-year degree. The idea that education opens doors is not a tired platitude for me - it is a reality. Without the teachers and tutors who helped me to unlock my potential, I would not be where I am today. I have been so thrilled in recent years to share my passion for education with students of my own and help them become who they want to be.
I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature from SUNY Geneseo and I am currently applying for graduate school programs in social work and therapy. I'm all about helping people get what they want out of life, and sometimes that means making the grade or the test score to get to the next step. I'm a great writing and reading tutor, because I have a special passion for both of those subjects.
My teaching style is compassionate, inspirational and holistic. I have not always been a perfect student myself - I know how certain hang-ups students have about themselves and other factors in their day to day lives can cause them to lose sight of the goal. I'm here not only to help students understand the material they're working on, but also to keep their eye on the horizon line and keep them running toward that finish line. We'll celebrate small victories along the way and we'll deal with obstacles together.
