I am new to Varsity Tutors, but I have been tutoring Math and Spanish for about three years. I am a college student, and I am working towards my Bachelor's program in Orthotics and Prosthetics which is a profession that specializes in assisting the body with prostheses or braces. I was required to take several Math and Science classes to get into the program because the program requires a lot of knowledge in the human body.
I took Math classes up to Calculus, and I always was in the top of the class. I have always been able to understand Math and explain it to others.

Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
I encourage and help students to fully understand the topics. It may take more work in the beginning to get used to the new learning style, but once the students gets use to it, then it becomes so much easier. I guarantee that understanding the material will boost your grades up, because it will be easier to recall what you learned during the exam and prevent any mistakes commonly caused by memorization.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
During the first lesson, I first like to meet the student and their family in order to make the student feel more comfortable. After, I like to assess the student's level of understanding by asking multiple questions based on the topic. Once I have a good understanding of the student's knowledge, then I transition to start tutoring the different topics.
