My name is Rachel and I am currently a 1st grade teacher at a Hillsborough County elementary school, B.C.Graham. I have been a teacher there for 4 years, and have taught both in 1st and Kindergarten.
During my 4 years of teaching, I have learned a lot from the ESE students and regular ed. students that I have taught. I have had experience teaching autistic students to read, write, and express themselves emotionally. Over the years, I have learned a lot about the different learning styles that students have and need to be successful.
I am excited to have the opportunity to teach not only the students in my classroom but tutor students one on one to encourage and help them to be successful.

What is your teaching philosophy?
The will to learn must first come from the student, and then the possibilities are endless.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would first learn how the student feels about school. Then I discuss some of their strengths and weaknesses.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Through modeling and support until the learner feels confident in their work.
