My name is Sohum Mehrotra, and I'm a Software Engineering Major studying at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I have a strong background in math and logic problems. I've struggled in the past with these subjects, so I know where the common problem areas are and how to best tackle them.

Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
My philosophy when it comes to teaching and learning, in general, is to establish a concrete understanding of the fundamentals of a certain subject. Often, students cannot solve problems, not because they are not smart enough, but because the way in which they learned the core information was not taught thoroughly.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
My first session would involve creating an open dialogue between myself and the student. I would want to know their study habits, views on the subject being taught, and then their knowledge of that subject. This would help me get an idea of the student's skill set and will help me tailor a specific teaching style for that individual.
