I am a senior physics student at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Next semester, I will be working with CU's learning assistant program helping to teach general physics. I have maintained a 3.67 gpa during my time at CU and I hope to share my learning skills with you!
Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is to teach using examples. I help students work through example problems helping less and less each time until they can complete them all by themselves without my help. I want to help students figure problems on their own rather than showing them the answer and explaining how to get their.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first session, I would begin by determining where the student is in the subject and asking if they have any pressing questions about the material they are currently working on. Once we've established that, I would ask that they tell me what they want to get out of our time together and what subjects they will be covering in their classes so that I could prepare practice questions for future sessions.
