My ultimate goal as a tutor is to help students overcome academic obstacles by teaching good study habits and building confidence. As a math and science tutor, I strive to help my students feel comfortable with these difficult subjects. I am a big supporter of getting students interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). I believe in helping my students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as love for learning.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

As a tutor, I believe in creating an environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions. My ultimate goal as a tutor is to promote a love for learning, particularly towards difficult subjects like science and math.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Children learn in different ways. If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, I often will change my teaching method until I find one that will help my students feel comfortable with the concept. Additionally, I spend more time reviewing that difficult concept with the student.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

One of the ways that I like to get my students excited about subjects they might be struggling with is by placing the concepts they are learning into everyday life situations. For example, if I were to tutor a student in physics, I would give the student examples of how concepts in physics play a huge role in roller coaster design.
