Hi, my name is Christine! I am a current undergraduate at Stanford, pursuing a degree in Economics. I have a strong educational background, and pairing this with my ongoing experience with a student helps me to share my experience and expertise with students in a way where I connect with them and meet them at their level.
Much of my experience comes from my involvement in the arts and in volunteering. My relevant teaching experience includes private piano lessons, tutoring, and mentoring. I taught ESL teaching to disadvantaged students in rural Taiwan. Through the UHS Foreign Exchange program, I tutored German speaking students in English to help them learn math concepts in Algebra. I've also mentored middle school students. For each of these experiences, I both designed and implemented my curriculum. In volunteering, I've also been involved with fundraising and promoting components. Some of these experiences include volunteering at the Open House Homeless Shelter in job training and helping promote and support a fundraiser, raising $24,000 for the PeaceHealth NICU Center. Additionally, I helped to fundraise for Philippines hurricane relief and collect food for Clark County food drive.
My musical achievements include winning the MetroArts Young Artists Debut Concerto Competition, the Jewish Community Orchestra Young Artist Competition, the OMTA Trula Whelan Concerto Competition, the OMTA Romantic Festival, and the OMTA Classical Festival. I placed in the OMTA Jean Williams State Scholarship Competition and OMTA Donna and David Eason State Competition.
I've attended Catlin Gabel Startup Camp twice. While here, I worked to create Musexplorer, a customizable sheet music search engine as well as PDX Bike Messengers, an energy-saving, crowd-sourced courier service. I find this work fun and exciting, and would love to speak with anyone who is interested in getting involved in these types of activities!
