I enjoy running my business, but I enjoy helping kids who are struggling in school even more. That is why I have decided to become a tutor.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

My philosophy is simple: communication. Everyone can understand basic principles, it's just about how to communicate it to them.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Get to know them and see where their starting point in the subject is. Once that is understood, we have something to build on as well as a starting point. I also like to see how they learn and how I'll need to communicate with them.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Teach them HOW to learn.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Break it down into manageable pieces. It's like eating a sandwich; anyone can do it one bite at a time, but no one can eat the whole thing in one bite.
