Hi there! My name is Emilie and I moved to Los Angeles this past summer. I am someone who deeply values education and learning, which is what initially got me interested in tutoring.
I recently graduated from DePaul University (Summa Cum Laude) with a BA in Psychology, a BA in Geography, and a Minor in Theatre Studies. As you can tell, I am interested in many different subjects!
A little bit about my teaching style: I strongly believe in positive reinforcement. I also think that patience and persistence are qualities that make teachers and tutors successful at what they do. I have lots of experience working with college students- I was a mentor at DePaul University for incoming first year students, and I also worked at DePaul's recreation program as an outdoor trip leader.
I also LOVE working with kids- I recently worked at the International School of Los Angeles (with PK-5th grade) and at Camp Galileo (with 1st and 2nd grade). I am currently working on completing my ECE units, so I can continue to pursue a career path that involves working with youth!
Lastly, I am also interested in tutoring Portuguese. I was born and raised in Curitiba, Brazil. Therefore, I am bilingual in both English and Portuguese, and I am very passionate about Brazilian culture.
As far as hobbies go, I love performance art, camping, hiking, and going to concerts. I really like Los Angeles so far, and I hope to explore this city more!
