I have been working with students for approximately four years now. When my mother became a preschool teacher, I knew at that point I wanted to work with children, and I also believed that I could use my skills and talents to help students succeed with their academics and within the classroom. I have worked at after school programs, tutoring agencies, and for the Glendale Unified School District as a behavior therapist helping students that have been diagnosed with Autism. It has been such a joy for me to be able to see students thrive in the classroom and build their confidence as they reach their goals. I have a B.A. degree from Cal Poly Pomona in Psychology, and I just recently received my M.A. degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. I tend to specialize in elementary reading, writing, and math because that is the age group that I have gained the most experience with but I have worked with middle school students as well. My favorite subject to tutor would probably be reading and writing because I believe these areas allow children to be creative and learn from their environment. My basic philosophy for teaching is to always highlight the student's strengths and build their foundation from there. If a student has self-confidence, then he/she will be more excited to learn and ultimately be more successful not only in the classroom but also in life. I also believe that each student learns in their own way, and it is our responsibility as educators to customize their learning experience according to their needs and styles of learning. I am an avid traveler, and it is one of my greatest passions in life. I have been fortunate enough to travel to several countries in Asia, Europe, South America, and North America. My travel experience has provided me with the opportunity to expand my view of the world and others in a positive way. I also love writing. Writing is a great way for me to express myself and it is very cathartic for me as well.
