My passion for academics has taken me down a lengthy road. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of California, Davis in 2012. Afterwards, I completed a post-baccalaureate program at the University of California, Irvine for Psychology and Social Behavior, and I have recently just begun my graduate studies as a PhD candidate for Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of California, Santa Barbara. My ultimate goal is to become a professor and researcher in the field of Developmental Psychology.
I've accumulated a considerable amount of tutoring experience throughout my academic career. Beginning in high school, I helped assist a 3rd grade class every summer, while simultaneously serving as a bible study teacher at my local church. This is where my love for teaching began. While in college at UC Davis, I continued using my free time to help teach/mentor throughout my community. I was a worship leader at the local church in Davis, and helped teach a class of nursery/kindergarten students at Peregrine. I love teaching individuals of all ages, and my aim is to provide a warm learning environment where we can work together to achieve your academic goals.
I tutor quite a variety of subjects - English, Reading, Writing, Literature (from elementary to high school), Essay Editing, Reading Comprehension, and the GRE Verbal and Analytical Writing sections. For Math-related subjects, I tutor Elementary/Middle-School Math, Geometry, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra 1. My favorite subject to tutor is anything English and Essay related. I believe constructing an essay is similar to creating a piece of art, and I believe anyone can be a great writer. All it takes is practice and patience.
My teaching philosophy is to support you fully in reaching your highest academic goals. I aim to do this in a genuine, warm, and encouraging manner. I believe the best kind of learning is done when communication is open, where you feel comfortable, and where our time is spent working together.
Outside of tutoring, my interests are reading non-fiction books of all sorts, exploring new foodie spots and coffee shops, and cooking with friends/family!
