Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that knowledge should be spread among all and it is important that we share our knowledge with others. Teaching is the tool to achieve this goal, and it is an essential element to the evolution of the human species to the better.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I like to introduce myself to the student and get to know more about him or her. It is essential for me to get to know the student to understand what are his or her weaknesses.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

The secret is to pave the way for the student to like the subject and start feeling that he or she might be good at it. Many students hate the subject because of their teachers, therefore it is essential to figure out why the student is weak in this subject and work on the causes.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

The main strategy I use is explain, illustrate, practice, test, and homework.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

One of the strategies is to teach students tricks they can use to figure out mathematical problems different than the ones stated in the textbook.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

The main strategy is to show students that they are good in parts of the subject, and that they have to only work on weaknesses. Students like to know that they are good in something.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Explain, illustrate, practice, test, and homework.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

I praise the student for every problem he or she solves right or partially right.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I will show the student that he or she is not weak in all of the subject, and I will show the strengths he or she has in the subject. Showing strengths increases enthusiasm and motivation.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I will help them in understanding the subject by explaining thoroughly every problem and exercise. I will show them key terms that will lead to understanding every question.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

I make my assessment through practice exercises and tests.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

I use a different unique technique depending on every student's need.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

I use my practice exercises, my material resources, and the student's book.
