I am a 2014 graduate of Vanderbilt University with teaching credentials. I received my Bachelor of Arts through a double major in Sociology and Earth and Environmental Science. Through my studies, I developed unwavering beliefs in the importance of education. After graduating, I was admitted to the selective Nashville Teaching Fellows of The New Teacher Project, which develops highly qualified teachers through intensive classroom practice, expert coaching, and personalized training. Ultimately, I earned a teaching license in Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum.
During the 2014-2015 school year, I worked as a 6th Grade Math and Science teacher in Nashville, TN. My strength was in my one-on-one and small group interactions with students. During this year, I learned the skills that allow me to assess student progress throughout the lesson and provide individualized guidance as a tutor.
I now have three years of experience with one-on-one tutoring, both in-home and online. I have worked with elementary, middle, and high school students on their respective math courses up to Honors Algebra 2. I also specialize in the SAT/PSAT and ACT and have experience tutoring the SSAT and ISEE. I prepare students throughly for all subjects tested.
I foster a flexible, engaging and collaborative tutoring atmosphere for students. All students should feel comfortable when approaching new or difficult material, asking questions, or establishing goals. I guide students to make well-rounded and purposeful connections with information in order to thrive academically and be college and career ready.
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area (and most recently living in Nashville, TN and Tallahassee, Florida), I am currently located in Sacramento, CA. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, going to the beach, hiking, baking, and watching baseball.
