What is your teaching philosophy?
My philosophy of teaching has evolved around my tutoring and teaching career. I find my philosophy of teaching centered around promoting a positive learning environment. To encourage learner enthusiasm for learning and to provide a strong foundation for lifelong experiences. To accomplish this, I would provide a variety of strategies based on cognitive, diverse experiences, planning instruction and assessment.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would get to know the student first, and would ask the student if there is anything they would like to know about me. Then, we can talk about what they are struggling in.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can help a student to become an independent learner by setting goals with them on what they would like to work towards. Then, each session, work through the goal and then move onto another goal.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
To help a student stay motivated, I would make the session fun and take smaller steps in a problem to see where the student is stuck on the problem.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
If student is having difficulty with learning a skill, I would use flashcards or pictures to see if the student can understand the skill.
