What is your teaching philosophy?

Not all students learn the same way. I utilize a variety of instruction methods to individualize learning. With the right teaching style, every student can succeed.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I like to spend the first session getting to know the student and their individual learning style. Do you learn best by reading? By listening? By doing? Maybe you're not sure; that's okay, too. I'll work with you to figure it out. I also take this time to define the specific goals of the tutoring sessions. Am I here to help with a big test coming up? Is there a specific concept you're struggling with? Do you need help with your study skills? Or are you looking to improve your overall understanding of a subject? This allows me to individually tailor my instruction to the needs of the student and foster a successful exchange.
