Recently I graduated from California State University of Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics. I am currently applying to a Masters Program in which I hope to gain the skills and additional qualifications I may need to teach Mathematics on a Community College level. I believe holding a Tutoring position while working toward my masters will help me define a career path in the education industry.
To me, the role of the tutor is an important role to hold. It brings a lot of interesting challenges and the idea of working with students to develop their natural skills is really what I look forward to when at work. I see Varsity Tutors as being progressive, and I look forward to the opportunity of being able to contribute to its continued success.
Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe a good teacher, first, has a powerful faith in the future. Like the forester planting an oak seedling knowing he or she will never see the tree in all its glory, I know I may never see the fruits of my labors as teacher. My calling is to plant and nurture seeds that will grow and shape tomorrow.
