Hi! I'm Bethany and I'm excited to get started here at Varsity Tutors. I have always had a natural interest and talent for language and communications of all sorts. I excelled in English as a teenager and won a writing contest my first year of college where I majored in communications and journalism. I later became interested in American Sign Language and I have been developing my proficiency in the language for several years now. I have tutored ASL beginners and ESL students in the past. I am fluent in ASL, so I can also tutor anyone that uses ASL as their first language (or primary language). I am currently working on a degree in Political Science. My interests include swimming, spending time in nature, and playing my guitar when the get the chance.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe people are naturally curious and want to learn. Additionally, we all have different methods that help us to learn better than other methods might. Teaching is a process of helping a student find their own natural abilities to learn through their best learning methods; it is helping them to find their own curiosity and allow it to guide their learning.
