I am a former City Year AmeriCorps member with over 1700 hours of experience tutoring high school students. My tutoring style is an all-encompassing socratic method style, which focuses not only on the subject matter at hand but on the process of solving problems and reaching answers. While working with me, my students improve their math, writing, and reading comprehension skills, as well as their organizational skills and study practices. In my work in City Year, 100% of my focus list students improved their math course grade by at least one letter grade, and 80% improved from a failing grade to a B or better. I like to build strong relationships with my students and encourage them to push themselves and become better thinkers, and I like to have fun during tutoring sessions with educational games and challenges. In my free time, I like to go hiking, play music, or play quidditch!
