I believe that all humans have the natural ability to be life-long learners and that everybody has the ability and potential to learn.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I would help a student become an independent learner by helping him/her develop the necessary skills and acquire the necessary tools for independent learning.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I would help a student keep motivation by giving continuous feedback and reminding him/her of progress made in mastering a subject.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would first try to help the student understand the areas in which he/she has comprehension issues and would then take a step by step approach to help the student master the content at his/her pace.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I would help the student learn useful techniques for improving reading comprehension.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

I think that it is very important to first understand a student's learning needs, learning style, and hobbies/interests.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

I would help a student become more excited/engaged with a subject by helping the student see and understand how that particular subject directly connects to his/her life and interests.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

I would ask the student frequent questions and use basic assessment tools to measure the student's comprehension.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

I would give the students continuous feedback, positive reinforcement, and praise.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

I would speak with the student directly about his/her learning challenges and give basic assessments/tests to measure comprehension.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

I would do my best to understand and teach according to that student's particular learning style.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

Materials used would depend on the age, level, and subject taught.
