I have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master's degree in Business Administration. I was a naval officer on nuclear submarines so I have a good understanding of mathematics, physics, and many disciplines of engineering. In the private sector, I have held technical and business roles in the semiconductor and electronics industries. My career has always involved continuous learning. I enjoy advanced learning from both the student and tutor perspective. I believe that tutoring at this stage in my career is a meaningful way to give back the privilege of learning that I have received.

Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe in the Socratic method (or Socratic debate), which is a form of cooperative dialogue between individuals, based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to draw out ideas and underlying presumptions. I think this is more effective and more interesting than a one-way communication teaching style or mechanically memorizing and reciting information.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
After general introductions, I would want to understand the student's objective with the tutoring so that we had mutually agreed upon expectations. In addition, I would like to have a clear overview of the subject matter so that we could plan a path to achieve the student's objective.
