I recently attained my Ph. D. in Ancient History from the University of Arizona. I have six years experience teaching various subjects in history, including ancient, medieval, European, and world history. I also have experience tutoring subjects ranging from government to anthropology to classics. I believe that every student has a unique way of learning and the teaching session should be adaptive to the needs of the student. I prefer working closely with people to find the most appropriate type of information retention, whether it is visual, audio, or written. When it comes to larger projects I encourage students to work in a step by step process that helps narrow their focus and create a solid core to their work. This makes the writing and research an easier and more intuitive process. I also feel that interactive research is important to the learning process. I fully support students trying to interact with the material beyond simply reading and writing about the topic. In certain fields, such as anthropology, there is a physical component to the work. Interacting with material culture, or watching videos about that material will give a student a better understanding about what they are discussing. I have extensive experience with Latin and other classical languages.
