Need help with reading, essay writing, or test prep? I'm your girl. As a one-time high school student, I know that standardized tests can be stressful, but I also know that they are completely possible. I love to talk out strategy and help students find what approaches to studying work best for their needs. Additionally, I've written more essays than I have birthday cards (and I'm very good about birthday cards) so I'm always down to help edit or format that paper. All-in-all, I'm an easy going tutor and here to help.

Q & A
What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe in helping students find the approach to studying that best works for them. Learning can only happen on our own terms, and my goal is to help them achieve an understanding, one-on-one, that may not be found in a large classroom.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session, I will learn what the student thinks their strengths and weaknesses are. That way, I can assess what they need help with and what the best approach to teaching might be.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I believe students become independent learners when they are guided to solutions, but not given them.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would help a student stay motivated by offering positive reinforcement along the way.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would isolate the specific problem they had with the concept and try to work through it step by step.
