Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Every student is different; therefore, every student's learning style is different. My goal is to create a safe and fun learning environment where every student feels comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and making progress.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

The first session involves an overview of strengths and weaknesses. I want to know how the student learns and what needs improvement.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I believe that all students are independent learners, each with a unique and independent learning style. I help them tap into that by giving them information and observing how they grasp that information through tasks that I give them.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I help students stay motivated by giving them small tasks integrated into their instruction. Most students lose interest after 3 minutes of lecture, so I keep the lesson integrated with interactive tasks that are fun and motivating.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

It is important to never treat difficulty as an enormous obstacle. I prefer to treat it as a challenge that always can be met with hard work and determination. I take the time to break down the concept and identify where the difficulty lies.
