I currently hold a degree in social science and political science as well as extensive experience working with diverse students in the Sacramento region.
As a classroom leader in an After School Program, I was required to tutor students in multiple subjects and assist them with homework. I also worked as a paraprofessional in classrooms. This required me to practice patience and understanding while also having to utilize creativity in order for special needs students to understand complex learning materials. I have also spent time as a substitute teacher for Modesto City Schools where I apply lesson plans in a fast-paced learning environment and inspire students to be critical thinkers while obtaining learning objectives.
Currently I work full time as an education service specialist at KVIE Public Television in the outreach education department. In this position I am tasked with overseeing the Ready To Learn program which promotes early learning through age-appropriate, educational, and engaging content for children ages 2-13. All Ready To Learn content is guided by math skill framework and literacy skill framework based on the state's Common Core standards. I implement parent/caregiver and educator workshops, oversee Ready To Learn grants and overall budget, book distribution program, and community relations.
These positions have surrounded me with educational content and required me to utilize time management skills, patience, and positive energy in order to assist students and caregivers in learning.
I have the skills that are needed to be a great tutor. I am passionate about education and believe it is a door that opens a path to future excellence for students. Knowing this, I will always give my greatest effort to assist students and families in learning.
