What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe in providing a deep knowledge beyond what the public school system will provide. This deep knowledge acquired by students will allow them to comfortably tackle any problem that is thrown their way.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would love to get to know the student and see what it is that they enjoy, so I can provide practical examples that make sense to the student.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
In order to help a student become an independent learner, I will give students original problems that expand on what they're learning in school. This way, they have to find the solutions that require more ingenuity.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I will do my best to find my student's aspirations and use those aspirations to motivate them.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
If the student is not yet frustrated, I will break it down further. If the student becomes frustrated, we will take a little bit of time each session on that specific skill or concept to slowly try and help the student understand, while taking the rest of the session to work on material that may be more of a confidence booster.
