I am a graduate of Vanderbilt University (2014) and The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (2016), where I pursued undergraduate and graduate degrees in classical voice performance, specifically musical theater and opera. In high school, I participated in and graduated from the International Baccalaureate Program, where I selected English, History and Psychology as my higher-level subject areas.
Although music is my true passion, my interests are vast, and my love for learning and reading has led me to art history, women’s and gender studies, psychology, foreign language study and literature. I am available to tutor in many of these subject areas, and particularly enjoy helping students to put together research papers, essays, presentations, and working on basic reading and writing skills. I also understand the importance of test preparation and developing strong college applications, and my experience with applying for both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees make me an excellent SAT and ACT tutor, as well as knowledgeable about college application essays and personal statements.
My teaching philosophy is simple: with dedication, patience and an encouraging attitude, we can achieve growth and a greater understanding of the world around us. My creative pursuits have taught me the significance of using my imagination in all aspects of life, and I work to incorporate creativity and imagination into my tutoring practices. I believe that knowledge truly is power, and I hope to inspire a love for learning in all of my students. On a day off, you can find me painting a landscape, hiking at Land’s End or trying a new recipe.
