I have been fascinated by the study of Latin and Ancient Greek since I was a freshman at the Middlesex school. I went on to pursue them at the University of Edinburgh and then completed a masters at Boston College. Currently, I teach middle and high school Latin and high school Ancient Greek at a prep school outside Providence, where I also coach and advise.
No matter the level, I love sharing my enthusiasm for the intricacies of Latin and Greek grammar, while examining the culture and the history of the incredible people who spoke these languages. I believe that translating either language is a logic puzzle, and I enjoy helping students breakdown sentences, analyzing and rearranging them until they thoroughly understand both the big and small picture. At the more advanced level, I enjoy helping students discover the extraordinary amount of work which goes into any piece of Latin or Greek, from word choice to rhetorical devices, and occasionally poetic meter. I especially love discussing the roles of women in epic- Dido and Medea are my personal favorites!
When not teaching, I love playing field hockey and ice hockey. Also, I am a huge fan of British murder mysteries.
