What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that a teacher's role is to assist and guide while maintaining the highest standards of education, and developing individual's talents every step of the way. I am regarded as a great listener who takes the time to understand the needs of clients to improve and master their knowledge in the subject matter.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

An initial assessment to evaluate the student's level of comprehension and knowledge, plus reviewing the syllabus, sets the grounds for a productive session.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By providing the knowledge needed to succeed in the subject, as well as building the learning consistent habits.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By finding out about their real interests and goals in school and life.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

There are many ways to assist in grasping a new concept or skill when it is related to the field of interest and level of comprehension of the student.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

By determining first their reading efficiency and vocabulary volume.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Be a great listener, be patient, and begin work at the student's level of knowledge.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

As answered in a similar question before, it is always great to find out about the student's goals, interest, and level of knowledge.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Give them an assignment where they need to apply the material just studied.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

By providing enough knowledge and references to the subject, as well as tests and building good studying routines.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

By asking probing questions on the subject and taking notes.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

Since each person has different needs it is always great to listen to the student and ask questions on their goals and expectations. It is also good to talk with the parents to find out what their expectations are as well.

Books, visual art, drawings, and TED Talks.
