I grew up in a small town called Hampton, Virginia. I went to Phoebus High school and the three accomplishments that I am very proud of are that I graduated with highest honors, I was the co-captain of my tennis team, and I was a member of a non-profit youth run organization called Uth Act. I am a very driven person and I have always worked hard to accomplish my goals. After high school, I had the opportunity to attend one of the best on the planet. Florida State University. I majored in Biological Sciences and had an eclectic variety of jobs. From working in a plant biology lab to working as a delivery driver on the weekends. I understood at an early age, that in order to achieve my goals, I had to work harder than most. School wasn't easy for me; I had to study constantly and so I understand the value of asking for help and learning at my own pace. Then I graduated from college and relocated to Nebraska where I attended graduate school for Genetics, Cell Biology, and Anatomy. I enjoyed my time as a researcher, where I studied a protein that was over expressed in a particular subtype of breast cancer. I was also an active student leader on campus. I was involved in organizing and recruiting for volunteer events, managing a group of student leaders, scheduling campus wide meetings, and planning and executive successful student fundraising events. I graduated with my Ph.D on May 7, 2016.
