I got my Ph.D. from Columbia University in the City of New York and my B.A. from The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. At the graduate level, I pursued French & Romance Philology. During a year-long fellowship to study in Paris, I completed the equivalent of a masters' in French Literature and Culture from the Université de Paris (La Sorbonne Nouvelle). At the undergraduate level, I specialized in International Relations. The major was comprised mostly of economics, political science and history classes. My personal project right now is to build online classes in my areas of expertise and to teach at the college level. I have 17 years teaching experience teaching all levels of French at the college level. I have also taught college-level ESL, creative writing, and composition. I hold a Professional Educator's License to teach K-12 (French) and 6-12 (Social Studies), including AP History. I have experience teaching at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I tutor a wide array of subjects to children, adolescents and adults because I enjoy teaching and getting to know new people. It is very gratifying to feel that in some small way I've enriched another person's life. My fundamental belief is that everyone can learn, and that everyone learns differently. It is exciting to discover the learning strategies that work for each student and to see the positive impact overcoming obstacles to learning can make on a person's outlook. I've never encountered a student I could give up on. Part of teaching, as well as learning, is resilience and grit. Outside of academia, I love the outdoors. I love traveling, hiking, cycling, and running. I love beaches. I love dogs. I love great food. I love sharing my talents with others.
